Hello Broncos Nation!

While we recognize these are unprecedented and challenging times, we are equally encouraged about our best and brightest Bronco student-athletes.  While we are not currently in competition and monitoring state guidance for our safe return to play, we are still coaching, mentoring and engaging our student-athletes in ways we have not done in the past.  Over the past few weeks as Los Angeles County has been opening, we have returned our Women’s and Men’s Track & Field Teams for strength and conditioning practices and planning for a fall 2021 return of sports.  This is very exciting and encouraging for our program and our future.  Our coaches have also resumed recruiting our next class of highly achieving student-athletes.

Going into the 2020-2021 academic year, our committed scholarship support for student-athletes was at an all-time high of over $1,075,000+.  Cal Poly Pomona Intercollegiate Athletics is honoring every single athletic grant-in-aid promised to every student-athlete.

Bronco Athletics will also be honoring athletic grant-in-aid for the 2021-2022 academic year.  Your support will continue to assist our current Broncos in a time of great need.  Our current commitment for 2021-2022 is budgeted for an all-time high of $1.1 million in athletic grant-in-aid.

We are committed to the continued academic and athletic success of our student-athletes.  As virtual instruction continued during the fall semester in 2020, the Cal Poly Pomona student-athletes persevered yet again, posting a remarkable department-wide grade point average of 3.35 amidst external distractions and, of course, the on-going COVID-19 global pandemic.  Of the 241 student-athletes enrolled at CPP in the fall, 188 earned a grade point average of 3.00 or better, encompassing 78 percent of the department.  Additionally, 96 Broncos made the Dean's List with a 3.50 GPA or better.  Additionally, in spring 2021, every Broncos team had a team grade point average above a 3.0, highlighted by program records for Volleyball (3.60 GPA) and Men’s Basketball (3.24 GPA).  Our individual accolades for spring 2021 were similar to fall 2020 and resulted in our overall best-ever cumulative grade point average for an entire academic year.

Every gift you make positively impacts the lives of our student-athletes.  By contributing to the Broncos Athletic Fund, your gift supports the continues academic and athletic success of our highly-acclaimed student-athletes.

While we are virtual now, our athletic success will be back in action in fall 2021 and I thank you in advance for supporting our Bronco student-athlete scholarships with your personal gift.  Please feel free to contact me to see how you can make a special gift that will impact Bronco Athletics for years to come.  I wish you and your families well.

Cordially,
