ABOUT DONALD G. WELLS
Affectionately known as “Water Wells”, Donald G. Wells was a leader in the environmental and water resources group within the Civil Engineering Department after joining faculty in 1970. He was especially instrumental in enhancing the department’s laboratory facilities. Wells passed away following an extended illness, leaving a legacy of faculty-student rapport and mentorship that continues to this day.
Wells was actively engaged in student extracurricular activities and had served for many years as the faculty advisor for the Cal Poly Pomona American Society of Civil Engineers Student Chapter (CPP ASCE). He loved playing volleyball and other impromptu sports with his students. Donald G. Wells will long be remembered for his outpouring of affection from his former students, many of whom have gone on to very prestigious positions in industry and government.
DONALD G. WELLS MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
In years prior, Professor Wells would plan an annual golf tournament in order to raise proceeds put toward student-led organizations within Cal Poly Pomona's Civil Engineering Department. CPP ASCE has since continued to host a golf tournament in his honor with the support of Professor Wells' former colleagues and students.
