Started in 2020 by outstanding scholars and alumni, the Art Department Scholarship for Diverse Voices works together address the history of colonialism, racism, and discrimination in all forms that have historically steered the pedagogy of design, studio arts, and art history education, as well as the industries that employ our graduates.
As a department, we are committed to eradicating the injustices of the past by increasing the diversity of our student population which will in turn increase diversity in the field.
Goal
To assist students from diverse and/or socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds pursue a career in the Arts, in Art History, or in Visual Communication Design.
How
Through generous donations from family and friends of the Art Department, we will award a scholarship annually to different students from Art, Art History and Visual Communication Design who have shown both exemplary skills and scholarly achievement, as well as demonstrated interest in increasing diversity and social justice within our fields.
