The Liberal Studies Department has two programs that foster new ways of looking and understanding the world using a polytechnic approach. The Liberal Studies Program is a dynamic, interdisciplinary major for students with a variety of interests, including elementary and special education, counseling, and social work, among other fields. The Interdisciplinary General Education Program values a student-centered community and active learning to think about enduring questions, exploring human history and its application to today’s circumstances. Collectively, we prepare students for the workplace by teaching critical thinking, creativity, teamwork, leadership, problem solving, and collaborative skills. Real-world opportunities like service-learning, field trips, and career-related events are some of the cornerstones of our programs, as they make the classroom come alive by linking students' learning to their future careers. This Giving Day, we seek funding to support our co-curricular experiences, field trips, service-learning, guest speakers and workshops, and innovative annual events that build our PolyX pathway.
